The absolute best catheter available for ease of use, cleanliness, portability and discretion.
I need to use a catheter due to nerve damage causing neurogenic bladder. Two years in, I still was not comfortable using standard fare catheters, both unlubricated and hydrophylic. Many were too stiff, some causing pain, I couldn't relax, and some would dry out with the water-based sterile lubricants making insertion and removal very painful. Also, aiming the funnel was at times a messy challenge and I experienced a couple of UTIs due to having to touch some catheters.
CompactCath solved each of those issues and more. First, as the name says, it's compact. This makes it easier to use in public, and easier and cleaner to insert as you can control insertion better and don't have the entire catheter exposed to pathogens and surfaces. I've had to discard unused catheters simply because they touched an unclean surface before insertion. That's never the case with CompactCath. Secondly, the silicone lubricant and touchless shell with finger stop advance allows for silky-smooth insertion (and removal) without touching the catheter itself. Since switching to CompactCath I have not had a single UTI. Next, the drainage funnel being held closed inside the case is wonderful for control over when and where you void. No longer are you surprised by fluid spraying out immediately when you reach your bladder. You can aim into the toilet bowl or container and release it when and where you want to. The staggard opposite eyelets seem to allow much faster flow than others who have the eyelets directly opposite each other. I recently had to travel domestically for the first time since needing to self cath. Thanks to CompactCath I was able to use the bathroom in the airport, and quickly and easily in public restrooms which would have been a huge challenge using standard or even pre-lubricated and hydrophilic regular caths.
Full disclosure, I don't use CompactCath very often at home. I have a large supply of red rubber catheters, which are cheaper and which work fine, and I usually have the time at home to go through the whole process of sterilization and careful use. However when I am in a hurry, when I am unable to properly sterilize my hands and need a touchless solution, and always when I am in public and while traveling, I use CompactCath to make sure I have a smooth clean self-cath experience.
